EXCLUSIVE | OTR x Todd Snyder + Champion Fall/Winter 2013
Come join us on Thursday September 19th for the Todd Snyder + Champion Launch Party! Over the Rainbow could not be more excited for this exclusive after hours event. Award-winning designer Todd Snyder will be personally introducing his Men’s Fall 2013 Collection. There will also be a vintage Champion art display provided by Joshua Roter and Chantal Varela, owners of In Vintage We Trust.
Todd Snyder is no stranger to menswear and the fashion industry. He studied textile and clothing design at Iowa State University and eventually honed is skills in New York. He has designed outwear for Polo Ralph Lauren, was Director of Menswear for the Gap and was SVP of Menswear for J. Crew. He has been nominated for the CFDA Swarovski Award for Menswear and was named one of GQ’s Best New Menswear Designers.
His debut collection with the iconic Champion brand is entitled, “City Gym”. It is inspired largely by original Champion pieces and vintage photos from the New York Athletic Club. “Champion has always symbolized quality and American style.” Snyder says. This collection is made for the maximum amount of both versatility and utility. The collection features a wide variety of grays, oatmeals and stone colours but is finished with rich team colours – reds, greens and washed royal blue.
We couldn’t tell you how honoured we are to carry such a prestigious collection at Over the Rainbow. On the 19th you will be able to meet not only Todd himself, but another die hard for vintage clothing, Joshua Roter. Josh has worked in the fashion industry for over a decade and is part owner of In Vintage We Trust. Just check out his blog, it bleeds vintage. From sports to historical events, military to 20th century working class photos, the styles are classic and unique. Selling garments while creating memories is one of their proud mottos. They bring the best of work wear, athletica, military wear and pop-culture to those who respect and love wearing it.
In Vintage We Trust will be bringing their own take on Champion to the event: “Champion is the equivalent to sports as Levi’s is to denim”, says Josh. It will consist entirely of a retro gym theme. Josh plans to include sweats, T’s, warmup pants, fleece jackets and varsity jackets. “Very rarely will I go out and not wear a Champion piece”, says Josh. This proves his passion for both vintage clothing and the brand itself. If you meet Josh in person you will definitely understand what I am talking about.
The event is going to be exciting for both Over the Rainbow customers and the staff. We are a big fan of the remastered Champion Collection and we have received a great reception from it. Any fan of vintage clothing and the Champion Brand will not want to miss this. We will have food, drinks, a few great displays and some amazing people to meet. Join us from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Over the Rainbow and we promise you will love the experience and may even learn a thing or two!
See you all on the 19th!
