IN THE PRESS | OTR x Canadian Living Magazine x Body Type Jeans

With all our new Fall arrivals in store, it might be confusing trying to figure out what to try on first, especially with denim.

Our very own women’s buyer, Genia Albi, was featured recently on Canadian Living online to give her expert opinion on the top denim trends for Fall 2011 and also finding the right jeans for your body type.

According to Genia, below are the top 5 trends to look out for this season:

• Dark denim washes
• Coloured denim: especially red, green and blue
• 1970s-inspired high waists
• Flared bottoms
• Details such as zippers and snakeskin prints

If these new trends are not on your usual denim rotation, it could be a bit daunting to figure out what suits your style and body type. No worries, as Genia gives readers a few tips on what styles and cuts to look out for:

“A petite woman can wear both flared and skinny jeans,” says Albi. “However, I would keep these silhouettes in a dark denim.”

“A full-figured woman should always be looking for high-waisted jeans,” says Albi. They will help disguise any problems in the tummy area. “A flare or boot cut is also flattering and will balance out her silhouette.”

“Athletic figures generally need more room in the leg,” says Albi. “A flare in dark denim would be a great choice.”

and finally what to wear if you are tall and slim “This woman can pretty much wear whatever she pleases,” says Albi. “Don’t be afraid to try coloured denim or this season’s hottest print – python.”
